After participating in a University Brigades Chapter, prospective healthcare professionals will gain valuable insights to prepare them for a medical career, such as:
- How to communicate effectively with patients.
- Differences in access to healthcare between a Brigade country and their home country.
- The use of electronic medical records system.
- Experience learning a second language (Spanish, in most cases) to communicate with patients
- Teamwork and leadership development skills.
- On-the-ground benefits of social innovations in healthcare.

Global Medical Telebrigade(Virtual) Volunteers Will also Benefit from:
- International telemedical experience (Virtual).
- Exposure to unique epidemiological case studies facilitated by international doctors.
- Experience in a bilingual patient care setting with fluent translators with opportunity to develop, practice and apply medical Spanish skills.
- Building cultural competence in unique international contexts and exposure to a different way of life in a different parts of the world.
- Increased awareness of the differences between international health systems and the challenges to medical access in remote communities.
- Insight into effective sustainable development practices, such as empowerment, community buy-in and cross-cultural collaboration.
- Certificate of completion from recognized international nonprofit.
- Approximately 20 hours of community service.
